Hilton Head Island, SC is a top 2024 Summer Vacation Destination in the USA

Why is Hilton Head Island still a top Summer vacation destination?

This beautiful Lowcountry barrier Island is 12 miles long and 5 miles wide. It has been called a resort town for good reason.

Hilton Head has a vast mix of cultures, age groups and activities for everyone.  The weather is great and the lowcountry feel is comforting and it just slows you down a bit from the rat race of the world.

Everyone loves spending time at the beach. The sand is beautiful and when the tide goes out you can actually ride bikes right next to the water if you want.  There are numerous places to rent bikes, so no need to bring them.  Did I mention the beaches are dog friendly?  How nice is that?

There are many hotel accomodation options with a little research. So you can find the perfect fit for you and your family.

If you want to golf, you will find some of the most beautiful courses here.  Harbour Town Golf Links is one of the most exclusive. Which holds the RBC Heritage Golf Classic every Spring. But if you are not golfing, you can walk around Harbour Town in Sea Pines and look at the gorgeous harbor full of boats with the infamous red and white light house.  Try climbing to the top of the lighthouse.  It is worth seeing the views from the top.  Or you can sit on one of the rocking chairs facing the harbor with a cold drink and just kick back and relax and people watch.

If you have young ones, you can go on a Pirate Cruise there aboard the Black Daggar pirate ship.  Kids love it and so do the parents!

Hilton Head also offers dolphin watching cruises.  Nothing like seeing this in person.  It never gets old to me!  What beautiful creatures.  If Catamarans are more your style you can find that too. Private boat rentals are available along with jet skiis, kayaks and more.

If you are an animal lover, Sea Pines offers horseback riding on a trail guided tour.  A petting zoo is also there for added fun for the family.

Did I mention shopping?  If it's outlet stores you like, we have them.  But we also have many unique stores and shops you will only see here on the island.  Hilton Head is home of some of the most talented artisians. During season every Saturday at Shelter Cove there is a community market from 9:30-12:30 for locally made items by local talented artisians.  Every Tuesday on the northern part of the island by the Coastal Museum is the Farmer's Market that also has talented artisians, good food and music for a relaxing, enjoyable shopping experience.

The Lowcountry is a special place with the beauty of the Spanish Moss hanging from the Spanish Oak trees. You can enjoy the natural beauty of the island with tons of bike trails around different parts of the island.  There is plenty of shade on the trails for those hot Summer days.

The best resturants are here.  Some right on the water with spectacular views!

If you decide to visit the island, you will feel like you are in another world.  As soon as you cross the bridge onto Hilton Head Island, you will take a deep breath, slow things down and savor every moment you are here.

Oh, did I mention they have no-see-ums, which are tiny flying insects that bite, along with mosquitoes?  Be prepared with a local favorite, G'Bye G'Nats! Bug Repellent!

Wishing you Safe, Summer Travels!
